Therapy FAQ's
In person therapy sessions are available with me in Leigh on Sea and Chelmsford in Essex.
For those that prefer counselling in the comfort of their own space, I offer sessions on Teams.
Counselling & Psychotherapy sessions last 50 minutes and are held at a regular time slot each week.
My current session fee is £70 in Leigh on Sea and £75 in Chelmsford per therapeutic hour (50 minutes).
I offer a limited number of concessionary rate spaces, which you are welcome to enquire about.
There is no limit to the number of sessions you may wish to have. Some clients choose to attend on a short-term basis (6-8 weeks), whereas others opt for longer term or open-ended therapy without a particular time frame in mind. This is reviewed regularly to make sure that therapy is still meeting your needs and it is entirely your choice when you stop.
Generally I am able to see most people within ten days after being contacted. In busy periods I operate a waiting list, but if this is the case I will try to give you a realistic estimate of how long it will be until I can offer you an appointment.
Before we begin our work together, there will be an initial 50-minute consultation. This helps to get a good initial sense of your present situation and learn a little about your past, as well as about your hopes for the future. It is an opportunity to say what is troubling you, what has brought you to therapy now and what you would like to achieve by attending. It is also helps us to get to know one another a little better and to see if we are a good fit.
The sessions are strictly confidential and the only person I will discuss your work with is my own individual supervisor. This enables the environment we work in to be contained. The only time that I may have to breach confidentiality out of this setting would be if there was a risk to yourself, or to someone close to you, but in the event of this occurring, unless there were legal reasons preventing us from doing so, we would endeavour to discuss any breach in our sessions in advance.
Breathwork FAQ's
- A personalized blend of psychotherapy, conscious connected breathing practice and integration.
- We begin with a thorough discussion exploring your current life situations as well as what you know about your birth, childhood, and family patterns, and how they may be affecting your life. You then set your intention for the session.
- You will be guided in a 50-60 minute breathing session and receive one on one support to unravel deeper layers of held tension, stress, belief systems, suppressed emotions and open to a greater sense of wellbeing. The Breathwork process helps to dissolve the past tensions that you have stored on a cellular level, thus making it possible to experience more energy and aliveness.
- There is time to share your experience, integrate and understand the process on a deeper level and suggestions may be made to support you in integrating the work into your daily life.
- You may experience tingling and physical discomfort, this is the energy moving and it is good to just notice this with curiosity and breathe into it, again you will be supported throughout.
- You may experience emotions rising, you will be encouraged to allow them with compassion, and you will be guided through the process.
The session will last 90 minutes. Music will be played to enhance the breath experience and there will be a relaxation period after the practice, to rest, and integrate with an opportunity to share.
